Here are some helpful tips to keep mosquitos and ticks away:
Apply insect repellent 20 minutes AFTER applying your sunscreen.
Frequently check for ticks on your body and clothing. Wearing tall socks, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts also help keep ticks off your body.
Shower after coming indoors to help reduce the risk of getting tick-borne diseases.
Avoid bodies of standing water, tall grass, and underbrush. When walking on trails, stay in the center of paths.
Permethrin-treated clothing can help keep ticks off your clothing.
Use an EPA registered spray, lotion, or liquid repellent to keep insects away. The EPA approval guarantees up to two hours of protection. The repellent should contain 25-30% DEET or 15% or more of picaridin.
